Join the Mission
In 2016 my Mom was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She received her diagnosis the last week of July. Two to three weeks later she started chemotherapy. A couple weeks into my Mom’s chemotherapy treatments I had an idea. Well… more like an assignment that was downloaded into my heart from God. The assignment was to share faith, love and positivity with cancer patients during their doctor visits and chemotherapy treatments.
After the assignment was received I remember going to my Mom with so much excitement. I shared the mission of the assignment and her words were, “that sounds like a great idea, do it.” And I did it. I went to Target bought as many cards with envelopes as I could afford and gathered my collections of sharpies; I scoured the bible for scriptures, grabbed quotes from my favorite books and asked family and friends for their favorite quotes. With the help of my sister we wrote out 60+ quotes and scriptures on each card and marked each envelope with a smiley face, heart or peace sign. We placed 3 baskets with 20+ cards in each in the hot-spots of the treatment facility. One basket in the front where visitors waited, one basket in the back where patients and visitors waited to see the doctor and one basket in the room where patients received their chemotherapy treatments.
Each week I wrote out different quotes and scriptures on cards, placed them in an envelope and marked them. Refilling each basket weekly. The Positive Pickups came to an end in December 16’ after my Mom finished her chemotherapy and moved to the next phase of treatment for the cancer. They felt like a small thing but seeing the big difference it made in someone’s day was priceless. I thank God for calling me to be a blessing and equipping me to be able to share love with others.
In case you were wondering my Mother has transitioned to an eternal life November 2017.
The Woman Behind The vision
Hi!
I’m Shakira Jones. Believer in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the Holy trinity, wife to my amazing husband Mr.Jones, sister and friend.
I’m also an Atlanta native with a passion for serving through random acts of kindness. It is my mission to share faith, love and positivity through my randomness.
I’ve been delaying other people’s blessings due to disobedience. Comparison and perfectionism had a hold on me until one day God said, “ You don’t need a business to give back, just a heart.”
My dream is to start my own non-profit organization by July 2022 and give away millions of dollars to random people in need all over the United States. In order to accomplish this dream I have to start somewhere and this is it!
I look forward to sharing with you. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Love & Blessings,
Shakira
